'Round the Point - Pinhey's Point, Ontario

This aerial photograph came together a bit by chance. I was photographing the point using kite aerial photography. I was standing behind a treed area and could not actually see the river and the point but I knew it was there and I worked to get the point itself well placed in the image. The fact that a sailboat sailed into the scene was coincidental and very fortunate as it really is a strong focal point in the picture. Pinhey's Point projects out into the Ottawa River near the community of Dunrobin, Ontario, not far to the west of Canada's capital city of Ottawa. This is mid winter in the Ottawa Valley and you can walk, or snow shoe rather, out onto the river along most of its course. This aerial photograph is taken using Kite Aerial Photography, whereby a remote controlled camera is suspended below a kite line.
