Pinhey's Point in Winter, Ottawa River - KAP 2012-6
February 28, 2012.
This was my fourth kite aerial photography session at Pinhey's Point. The Pinhey's Point Foundation is a group which has indicated an interest in my photography with the prospect of doing a demonstration and photo display during the 2012 season. Thus, I have incentive to return from time to time. This was the first time I had done aerial photography at this location in the winter. Despite the forecast for good winds, in reality it was not sufficient to lift the fully remote-controlled rig and so I used autoKAP, whereby the camera shoots automatically while the rig pans the camera a small amount every 8-10 seconds.
Pinhey's Point is on the Ontario side of the Ottawa River, just upstream from Ottawa (Kanata) near the small village of Dunrobin. It is an 88 acre heritage site administered by the City of Ottawa. For more information visit the Pinhey's Point website.
These images were taken from a camera suspended below a kite line (Kite Aerial Photography - KAP).
You can view the April 2009 images in the KAP 2009-11 Pinhey's Point gallery.
You can view the September 2011 images in the KAP 2011-11 Pinhey's Point gallery.
You can view the November 2011 images in the KAP 2011-18 Pinhey's Point gallery.
You can view the February 2012 images in the KAP 2012-6 Pinhey's Point gallery.
You can view the April 2012 images in the KAP 2012-7 Pinhey's Point gallery.
I have also taken a series of "terrestrial" ground-level images at Pinhey's point in winter. These can be viewed in the Pinhey's Point Gallery in the Ontario section of my website.
