Broadview School and Nepean High School, Ottawa, Ontario - KAP 2011-13

This session was launched in the schoolyard of Broadview Public School in the Highland Park area of Ottawa, Ontario. With the wind from the SW I was easily able to fly over Broadview School and also shoot neighbouring Nepean High School. I live a few hundred meters from these schools and both of our daughters attended Broadview for a couple of years and Nepean for their entire high school education. I was also able to catch nearby Notre Dame High School.
This is the neighbourhood that I lived in for a good chunk of my life.
These images were taken from a camera suspended below a kite line (Kite Aerial Photography - KAP).
Towards the end of the session I tried some close overhead shots of people playing basketball. Since the courts were in full shade by this time, the results were underexposed and grainy. They do show that the courts may make good KAP subject matter for future when more light is on the situation.
I also would like to try the morning to try to get full sun on the front doorways of the schools. Most of these shots are from the lit back side of the schools. Photographing the front of the schools is also tricky due to the presence of power lines.
